Tournament Rules

  • Sides
    • Determined through coin flip, each team has 1 representative at the head table
  • Pauses (Timeout)
    • Each team is awarded 15 minutes of technical time out before finding a substitute or risk disqualification
      • Timer begins when representative/staff arrives
      • During a technical timeout, please do not begin fixing issue until a staff/representative arrives to verify the nature of timeout
        • This is to prevent players from faking technical timeouts for other purposes
    • Teams not honoring the timeout rules will be subject to a punishment as CG Staff members see fit, including disqualification
  • Punctuality
    • All teams must be ready to compete at the scheduled time
      • It would be safer for all teams to be ready to go 10 minutes before scheduled time
      • Any teams arriving late will be subject to a punishment as CG Staff members see fit, including disqualification
  • Cheating/Hacking/Scripting/3rd Party Programs
    • Cheating, hacking, scripting or use of 3rd party programs is prohibited
      • Players caught will be immediately disqualified
      • If you are unsure whether something is prohibited or not please consult with a CG Staff Member, otherwise, assume it is prohibited
    • If a team/player suspects another player/team is cheating please advise a CG Staff/Representative
      • If no one is available please record a Demo for CG Staff to review at a later time
  • Player changes/team lineups
    • Each team consists of 5 players in the starting roster
      • These 5 players will be locked in at the beginning of the tournament (TBD)
    • Teams are allowed to replace up to a maximum of 2 players for any given game
      • If a team requires more than 2 replacements, they are disqualified
  • Match Results
    • Match results including the final score must be reported immediately to CG Staff
      • Demos/Recordings are not necessary, HOWEVER, if the teams do not agree on the winner and scores the results will be determined by a CG Staff/Representative
      • It is recommended for both teams to at least take a screen shot of the final scoreboard
      • Failure to agree will result in a coin toss to determine winner (score 16-0)
      • Falsifying match results will result in disqualification of one or both team(s)
  • Rematch/Drops/Server Crashes
    • If a match is interrupted (e.g. server crash) then the match is restarted with identical pick/bans (if it was dropped during pick/ban then the pick/bans will be replicated to the point of drop), if match is interrupted after
  • Prizes
    • Community Gaming Swag
    • 1s Place will have free entry into the Spring Open
    • Other prizes may be added
  • Rule Change
    • Community Gaming Staff reserves the right to amend, remove, or otherwise change the rules, without further notice.
    • CG Staff also reserves the right to make judgment on cases that are not specifically supported, or detailed in this rulebook, or even goes against this rulebook may be taken in extreme cases, to preserve fair play and sportsmanship.

Tournament Format

  • 6 teams or less
    • BO1 Round Robin
      • All games at each round of play will be the same
        • Maps will be determined at random
    • Top 2 teams will play BO3 Finals
      • In case of ties – team with most rounds won will advance
        • In case of round ties – MR5 16k will be played to determine winner
      • Maps are pick/ban
        • T1-B, T2-B, T1-P, T2-P, T1-B, T2-B, last map
      • Winner of coin flip will get to choose to pick/ban first, or pick side first
      • Loser of each map will get to choose side on the following map
  • 7 teams or more
    • BO1 Double Elimination
      • All games at each round of play will be the same
        • Maps will be determined at random
    • BO3 Grand Final
      • The team undefeated will play with 1 map advantage (1-0)
        • Meaning the undefeated team only needs 1 win to win the tournament
      • Maps are pick/ban
        • T1-B, T2-B, T1-P, T2-P, T1-B, T2-B, last map
      • Winner of coin flip will get to choose to pick/ban first, or pick side first
      • Loser of each map will get to choose side on the following map

Tournament Rules

  • Sides

    • Each team gets a single one minute tactical per side.
    • Each team is awarded 15 minutes of technical time out before finding a substitute or disqualification
      • Timer begins when representative/staff arrives
      • During a technical timeout, please do not begin fixing issue until a staff/representative arrives to verify the nature of timeout
        • This is to prevent players from faking technical timeouts for other purposes
    • Teams must specify before or immediately after time out begins whether it is a technical or tactical, or it is assumed as tactical
      • A representative/staff will come and verify the reason of time out
      • If teams do not state the nature of timeout it is then at the discretion of a staff/representative to determine the nature of timeout
    • Teams not honoring the timeout rules will be subject to a punishment of 1 round per minute of timeout abuse OR as CG Staff members see fit, including disqualification
  • Maps
    • Active Duty Maps are played as determined by the game
      • Maps played will be specified in “Tournament Format”
      • Nuke, Inferno, Mirage, Cache, Overpass, Cbble, Train
  • Overtime (15/15)
    • To determine winners a MR3 10k will be played OR the first to hit 24 rounds
      • Mp_maxrounds 6, mp_startmoney 10000
  • Punctuality

      • Any teams arriving late will be subject to a punishment of 1 round per minute late OR as CG Staff members see fit, including disqualification
  • Cheating/Hacking/Scripting
    • Cheating, hacking or scripting is prohibited
      • Players caught cheating or hacking will be immediately disqualified
      • If you are unsure whether something is prohibited or not please consult with a CG Staff Member, otherwise, assume it is prohibited
    • If a team/player suspects another player/team is cheating please advise a CG Staff/Representative
      • If no one is available please record a Demo for CG Staff to review at a later time
    • Exploiting bugs and glitches is considered cheating and can result in immediate disqualification
      • These include but not limited to
        • Moving through walls, ceilings, floor, or anywhere else which were not intended to be a passage
        • Silent planting (planting bomb where beeping cannot be heard)
        • Planting bombs where it is impossible to be reached (boosting does not count)
        • Boosting is only disallowed in the case of peeking over a wall or ceiling that SHOULD NOT be allowed according to map designs
        • Using flash bugs
        • Throwing grenades under walls (over is fine)
        • Map swimming or floating
        • Pixel walking (sitting on standing on invisible edges)

      • Please still report the final score i.e. 19-16
        • However, in the case of tie breakers the score will be considered 16-14
  • Rematch/Drops/Server Crashes
    • If a match is interrupted (e.g. server crash) within the first three rounds of play, then the match is restarted, if match is interrupted after, then the match will continue where it left off with these changes in configuration
      • Mp_startmoney should be set to 5000 for the rest of the half
      • Rest of the rounds that have not been played should be played
  • Prizes

    • Other prizes may be added

Overwatch Rules

  • Game Mode
    • Competitive Mode
      • Kill Cam Disabled
      • Hero Selection Limit - 1
      • Return to Lobby after mirror match
  • Pauses (Timeout)
    • No such thing as Tactical Timeouts
    • Each team is awarded 15 minutes of technical time out before finding a substitute or disqualification
      • Timer begins when representative/staff arrives
      • During a technical timeout, please do not begin fixing issue until a staff/representative arrives to verify the nature of timeout
        • This is to prevent players from faking technical timeouts for other purposes
    • Teams must specify before or immediately after time out begins
      • A representative/staff will come and verify the reason of time out
      • If teams do not state the nature of timeout it is then at the discretion of a staff/representative to determine the nature of timeout
    • Teams abusing or not honoring the timeout rules will automatically forfeit the match OR be disqualified
  • Maps
    • All Competitive Maps
      • This includes Horizon Lunar Colony
      • Maps played will be specified in “Tournament Format”
  • Ties/Draw
    • Teams will play a random BO1 Control Point map. First team to completely capture the point wins.  
  • Punctuality
    • All teams must be ready to compete at the scheduled time
      • It would be safer for all teams to be ready to go 10 minutes before scheduled time
      • Any teams arriving late will be subject to a punishment of 1 round per minute late OR as CG Staff members see fit, including disqualification
  • Cheating/Hacking/Scripting
    • Cheating, hacking or scripting is prohibited
      • Players caught cheating or hacking will be immediately disqualified
      • If you are unsure whether something is prohibited or not please consult with a CG Staff Member, otherwise, assume it is prohibited
    • If a team/player suspects another player/team is cheating please advise a CG Staff/Representative
      • If no one is available please record a Demo for CG Staff to review at a later time
    • Exploiting bugs and glitches is considered cheating and can result in immediate disqualification
      • Exploitation will be judged by CG Staff Members
  • Player changes/team lineups
    • Each team consists of 6 players in the starting roster
      • These 6 players will be locked in at the beginning of the tournament (TBD)
    • Teams are allowed to replace up to a maximum of 2 players for any given game
      • If a team requires more than 2 replacements, they automatically forfeit or are disqualified
  • Match Results
    • Match results including the final score must be reported immediately to CG Staff
      • Demos/Recordings are not necessary, HOWEVER, if the teams do not agree on the winner and scores the results will be determined by a CG Staff/Representative
      • It is recommended for both teams to at least take a screen shot between EVERY round in addition to the final score screen
      • Failure to agree will result in a coin toss to determine winner (score 3-0)
      • Falsifying match results will result in disqualification of one or both team(s)
    • Overtime matches
      • Please still report the final score i.e. 4-3
        • However, in the case of tie breakers the score will be considered 3-2
  • Rematch/Drops/Server Crash
    • If a match is interrupted (e.g. server crash) the map will be replayed and the match will continue as its current score
  • Prizes
    • Community Gaming Swag
    • 1s Place will have free entry into the Spring Open
    • Other prizes may be added
  • Rule/Format Change
    • Community Gaming Staff reserves the right to amend, remove, or otherwise change the rules and format, without further notice.

    • Top 2 teams will play BO5 Finals
      • Maps veto
        • Team with higher seed begins veto
          • If tie, they will coin flip
        • Teams will veto until there are 5 maps left
          • Remaining 5 maps will be played at random
